Hello!

Well, I have finally caved and started a blog along with so many of my friends!  I enjoy writing out my thoughts and often times I wish I could share what I write in a convenient way.  So why didn't I make my own blog sooner?  For anyone who is on Facebook, is an avid reader or crafter, or for anyone who has any sort of hobby or habit that easily consumes too much time, you can understand one of my key reasons:  I get distracted from more important tasks far too often.  Another reason is simply that I did not want to begin a blog and end up neglecting it.  Oh well!  Here I am anyway.

I suppose a good place to start off would be to explain what is happening in my life right now as a foundation for the type things I will likely write about further or later on.  (My guess is that most anyone reading this will know quite a bit about me, but just in case, I'll try to cover all the current things.)

My younger sister, Chaela, is kept busy as a homeschooler-charter schooler-college student.  She is absolutely my best friend (more on that later) even though we really don't see eye-to-eye on many things.  Probably because she's a few inches shorter.  Anyway.

My family and I just found out that Dad has been assigned a year-long deployment, so we're preparing for that.  Mom has been praying that everything that will break down will do so NOW, while Dad's here to help.  Unfortunately she didn't expect her prayers to be so thoroughly answered, because she has had a few new medical issues suddenly pop up!  Thank God those things are being taken care of now as well, and for Mom's sense of humor - she's the one who pointed out that she asked for it!

For just over two months now, we have been caring for my infant cousin, Gavin, who is such a precious little boy!  Although having a baby in the house has taking quite a bit of getting used to, it's been an interesting, crazy, sometimes overwhelming, and very enlightening experience!  I have done more than my share of babysitting and nannying, but working with an infant 24/7 has been new to me.  Hey, what great practice for when I have children of my own, right?

I am currently enrolled in a accelerated distance learning program called CollegePlus, and am enjoying it, especially compared to the three semesters I was enrolled at a nearby community college.  Not that there was anything particularly wrong with that college; but it has been so very refreshing to work with a primarily Christian curriculum and at my own pace.  With so many unexpected things happening since the fall semester, it's a blessing not to have to worry about keeping a regimental school schedule on top of it all.

Last of all for this post, I really ought to mention something about Jon.  He's an Air Force Academy cadet and we met during his freshman year at church.  For the sake of keeping this post as concise as possible, I'll move the details of our relationship to a post of its own.  Suffice it to say that he and I have been courting for just over four months now.

On that note, I'll leave you until I write here again.
